A Bug’s Life

With A Bug’s Life by Arash Nassiri, Fluentum presents the first institutional solo exhibition by the Berlin-based artist in Germany. At its center is the artist’s eponymous film, presented alongside a series of new works developed for the exhibition.

Co-commissioned in collaboration with Chisenhale Gallery, London, and Fondation Pernod Ricard, Paris, A Bug’s Life offers a surreal journey through an opulent Beverly Hills mansion. The building is one of the last examples of a once distinctive and later banned architectural micro-movement, brought by immigrants who came to the US at the turn of the 1979 Iranian revolution. A wooden insect puppet moves through a palatial interior amid echoing conversations, framing the home as a site of aspiration and erasure where personal and architectural histories intersect.

Following presentations at Chisenhale Gallery and Fondation Pernod Ricard, the exhibition will open at Fluentum in Berlin on September 9, 2026, on the occasion of Berlin Art Week. During the course of the exhibition, Fluentum will publish a book by Arash Nassiri that expands on the film‘s exploration of Iranian-American domestic architecture through archival materials, newly commissioned texts, and visual research gathered during the development of A Bug’s Life.
